I was born on June 8, 1964 to Jess and Jean Dawdy. My father is a retired Dearborn
Police Department Supervisor and my mother currently works for the Dearborn Police
Department as a School Crossing Guard. I am a lifelong resident of Dearborn where I am an
Alumnus of Fordson High School and Henry Ford Community College. I also attended
Lawrence Institute of Technology. I married my wife, Diane on May 6, 1989 at St. Barbara
Roman Catholic Church where I have been a lifelong member. I currently serve as President
of the Ushers and Lectors Club and as a Eucharistic Minister. My wife and I have two
wonderful children through adoption, Adam, 12, and Ashlynne, 7.
I worked for the City of Dearborn while attending college from 1983-1986. In 1986, I went to
work for Ambit Land Surveyors, Inc., where I worked my way up through the company to my
current role as Operations Manager. I am also a Licensed Builder since 1992 and co-own,
with my wife, our own company, Dawdy Designs & Construction, L.L.C. since 1995.
I am committed to the community through various organizations. I am a member of the Fr.
Patrick O’Kelley Knights of Columbus in Dearborn, an Assistant Cub Master and Den Leader
for Lindbergh Elementary School Cub Scout Pack 1116, a member of the Lindbergh
Elementary School PTA, and a Team Sponsor and Baseball Coach for Dearborn’s
Baseball Program. I have also donated my time and service to the Adopt-A-Highway Program
and the Habitat For Humanity Program.
I believe Dearborn is a great city, but there must be changes in order for Dearborn’s greatness
to continue. We have to bring in diverse commercial development in both east and west
Dearborn. We need to review all of
Dearborn’s properties to determine whether they are economically viable. I also believe we
need to look at the infrastructure of Dearborn Public Utility Services and determine where
improvements can be made. We must work with Ford Motor Company during their
restructuring and assist them in whatever way we are able as they are a major tax source for
Dearborn. Furthermore, I believe we need to embrace Dearborn’s cultural diversity and work
together with all the people of Dearborn to create a more unified community. If I am elected
to the Dearborn City Council, I will strive to accomplish these goals to keep our city thriving and keep it
the great place it has always been to live.
